James Francis Sterling III
Sep. 27th, 2014 05:46 pmThe son of a long line of politicians loyal to the crown, (his father is Earl, as will be James's older brother, eventually) he is currently the Governor General of the colonies. Sure, the colonies was almost called the United States, but then they tried to rebel, and yeah, they lost the right to the name. From then on, they're the American Colonies, and James has every intention of keeping it that way. Who would want to split from the Empire? The idea is irrational!
The vice-grip on the colonies is due to flare ups of what is considered terrorism by the crown and its government. Despite this, James is not a maniacal despot. He took the position because he wants to reunite the colonies and the homeland, and believes it the only way to move forward.
He's easily manipulated by three people: his wife (who spends as little time in the colonies as possible) and his two children. His weak point is that he loves them more than crown and country, though the government would believe otherwise. Anyone else who tries anything will find themselves locked up for treason.
James worries about the listlessness in Ree's life, and the insular nature of Abby's, but as long as both seem happy, he can put that on the back burner. He has a country to get under control.
